Jet Rally 2007
This was an interesting trip. This small meet
is hosted by David Dennison, and we were made to feel quite
welcome. We arrived on Thursday afternoon, and got several good
flights in, as David and his father were finalizing the setup. On
Friday we got a ton of flying in, and I think there were 8 or so
pilots there as well. By Saturday, though the rains had set in. I
mean set in....In 24 hours, the town we were in had received 10
INCHES of rain!!! People that had been evacuated from homes where
starting to check into the hotel we were about to check out of.
We saw disaster red cross vehicles going by, along with airboats
on trailers, all going to try to lend aid to local residents. On
our departure, Sunday morning, we saw numerous mud slides on the
hills around us. Quite an interesting trip..
