(March 19, 2002 - MMRCA Club Meeting)

It is now March 19th, 2002. The aircraft is together enough to take to the local club (Mid Missouri Radio Control Association) meeting for "Show and Tell". My son had the camera, but waited till I started talking about the plane before taking any pictures.

The model is ready to be checked for balance. I think its going to come out pretty close... but if not, then I have things I can move around inside (mainly the battery packs). I do NOT want to add lead. There is a leak in the retract system that will have to be tracked. Zap-a-Dap-a-Goo-II was supposed to dry clear, but didn't in my case... so I'll have to clean up some around the canopy. I am going to have ground clearance issues if I try to use a 17x8 or 18x6 prop after break in. I should be ok with the 16x8 APC that I'll use to break in the RCS140... but I may have to go with a 16x10 or similar afterwards. I used the largest tires (3.5") I could cram into the space provided. Have to cut away part of the leading edge wood to fit anything bigger. Speaking of tires... I have replaced the 1.5" foam tailwheel tire with a better Sullivan tire. The foam tire compressed too much from the weight of the plane. I bought a 2" Klett tailwheel, but it is too big.

Notes about the pictures below:

  • I used the static prop that Jim Cooper made... that ended up getting dropped and the nose piece broken off. I have glued it back on... but not before these photos were taken.
